Plan International.
Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. Its Global Strategy for 2017-2022 is to work with vulnerable children, especially girls, to fight against children rights violations and transform attitudes and behaviors that deny girls rights by responding to local contexts. The goal is to transform the lives of 100 million girls and fulfill the promise of the 2030 Global Goals to advance children’s rights and equity for girls. All children around the world must be able to learn, lead, decide and thrive.
To ensure all children are included in society of civil registration systems around the world must be improved so that the birth of every child will be recorded.
Plan International works with governments, UN agencies and the private sector to improve civil registration services using appropriate technology. It also raises awareness in communities about the importance of getting children’s births registered and support the training of people involved in the process. Currently, Plan International is leading the development of OpenCRVS, an open-source digital CRVS solution that is free to use, adaptable to the country context, interoperable with other government systems (e.g. health and ID systems), and rights-based to ensure it protects and provides for those most vulnerable
