- The upcoming session of the Asia-Pacific Stats Café, on Wednesday, 16 September from 1 to 2 pm (Bangkok time), will focus on data integration. Data integration pulls together data from different traditional sources such as censuses, surveys, and administrative data like civil registration, as well as new sources of data. It can provide more frequent, timely and disaggregated statistics, at lower cost compared to traditional approaches. While this is promising, there are challenges on the way, including access to data, quality, interoperability, privacy and confidentiality, and limited technical capacity. You can register here.

- The Bloomberg Philanthropies Data for Health Initiative at the University of Melbourne has recently published three CRVS kits, namely on Verbal autopsy (VA), Medical certification of cause of death and mortality coding, and Data quality and analysis. As summaries of the most important papers, tools and guidance documents, they are designed as stepped guides for countries looking to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their CRVS systems. Additional resources have recently been published on the CRVS Gateway, such as a “Responding to COVID-19” page which will act as an up-to-date repository for all University of Melbourne Data for Health guides, tools and resources relating to COVID-19.
